Affordability and Interface

All the cool features of the newest phone wouldn’t matter if you couldn’t afford it. There’s no denying that iPhones are generally more expensive than many Android versions.

The cost of Apple’s latest release, the iPhone XS, exceeds $1000. Meanwhile, some Android phones can be as cheap as $80 (OnePlus Android Phones and other models).

If you’re on a tight budget, you’ll have better chances of owning an Android phone. Or you could buy a used iPhone instead. This would still cost more than $100 in most cases.

Apple has always been at the high end of the market in terms of pricing, but the iPhone X took things to a whole new level with a starting price of $1,000 and the iPhone 11 Pro Max starts at $1,100. If you need something more affordable, the iPhone 11 starts from $700 and the older iPhone 8 from $450.

For sheer scale and variety, nothing competes with Android. You can spend a lot or less if you want to, for example, OnePlus and Samsung’s Galaxy line almost match Apple’s iPhone pricing, but there’s also a huge selection of good, low-cost handsets. The fact that Android also leads the field in free apps makes it the natural choice for the budget-control.

Application stores

  • Google Play Store

Google Play Store offers 2,000,000+ apps. Other app stores like Amazon also distribute Android apps and APKs. Apps containing virus rare, but existing.

On the other hand, apps have a very low chance of being rejected on Android. This allows app developers to experiment with their idea on a bigger platform. But, the problem here is that since everybody gets the opportunity to try their hand at development, there is a higher chance of buggy apps being installed by users causing security concerns.

Even though, Android has a wider range of apps to choose from. Now, it is up to you to decide whether you prefer quality over quantity.

  • Apple Store

Apple Store sees a selection of better quality apps offering 1,000,000+ apps. Apps containing viruses very rare or nonexistent.

Apple blocks 3rd party app stores. The phone needs to be jailbroken if you want to download apps from other stores. Since its release, the App Store has only allowed the top quality apps to pass and thus has gained a reputation for excellence. But, it’s nothing short of a nightmare for web developers who have to invest more time in making their app reach Apple’s standards.

Customization

iOS is typically very irritable, but limited in terms of customization, whereas Android is super customizable android has always given users more customization options than iOS, right from the home screen. Android phones can supports widgets like calendar boxes and weather icons, iPhones are stuck with their organized rows and columns of icons.

Both platforms have become extremely polished and easy to use. But, in general, Android OS is slightly simpler and more streamlined while iOS offers a more secure environment to users.

  • Default Browser

iOS locks you into using Safari as your mobile internet browser, Android not only allows you to choose any third-party browser that you’d like (meaning you’re not stuck using Google), but you can also set it as a default.

Navigation Map

As the newer navigation system, Apple Maps did not have a great start, but it has improved significantly. Key features are similar, you can download maps for offline use, get accurate estimates based on current traffic conditions, and find turn-by-turn directions for driving or walking. They all work well and should get you where you’re going.

One thing that Google Maps offers that Apple Maps doesn’t is cycling directions. Overall, the scale and quality of Google Maps are unbeaten. It has more points of interest and it is generally more detailed than Apple Maps. Given the choice, we’d always pick Google Maps, and though you can get it on iOS, it’s better on Android because it’s the default navigation app.

Battery Life & Charging

Early iPhones needed to recharge their batteries every day. More recent models can go days without a charge.

The battery situation is more complex with Android, due to the large variety of hardware options. Some Android models have 7-inch screens and other features that burn through much more battery life.

But, thanks to the wide variety of Android models, some offer ultra-high capacity batteries. Many but not all Android phone manufacturers equip their devices with large batteries with longer life. Android can deliver a device that works much longer than an iPhone on a single charge.

Apple batteries are generally not as big as the largest Android batteries. However, Apple can squeeze a decent battery life via hardware/software optimizations.

The case of the battery is more complex in Android due to a large variety of models that differ in terms of brands, chipsets, and screen sizes.

Apps

Let’s start with a look at the numbers how many apps you’ll find in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store:

  • Android apps: 2.7 million
  • iOS apps: 2.2 million

The Play Store still has a higher percentage of free apps than the App Store. But the best mobile games still land on iOS first and they don’t always come to Android. Ultimately, quality beats quantity.

I think Google Play Store provides a better browsing experience on your phone and does a better job with recommendations. The Play Store is easier to search and you can queue and install apps from the web browser on your PC or laptop.

As you can buy apps using your fingerprint via Touch ID on iPhones, but you can set up the same thing on the Google Play Store with fingerprint sensors.

The Play Store has a no-quibble refund policy within two hours of purchase. There are some questionable apps in both stores, Apple strict about blocking certain types of apps. That can be a good thing for overall quality.

Email

The Gmail app is a better option for most users. It offers more flexibility and efficiently more features than the iOS stock mail app. And if the design is one of the choosing factors for you, Gmail’s colorful interface is a boss against Apple’s simple, but essential approach.

However, most people would knock around Apple’s iOS mail app after learning it doesn’t offer true push notification functionality for emails. That’s truly a downer for me. If you share the same feelings as me, Gmail is what you must choose.

Camera

iPhone produce photos with higher micron pixel than average Android cameras in the market which is the main reason why photos are clearer and the iPhone camera includes a better lens. Megapixel doesn’t matter that much.

Megapixel isn’t the most important part of crystal clear photos, it just can produce higher sized photos/resolution photos, that’s all. The factor behind crystal clear photo is the lens, aperture, imaging sensor size, and imaging sensor’s performance.

But the current iPhone 6S version isn’t that good. It can’t produce better images like OnePlus 8 Pro. Especially in low light conditions with higher micron pixels.

Voice Assistants

As we see that Google has also rolled out its assistant, the competition has become tough for apple.

Earlier Siri dominated this field but with Google assistant’s entry, things have changed.

Siri used to be funnier, more human-like and gave better replies but Google Now would just google things and show them in the browser. Siri was more logical and was way more interactive than Google now. But with the advent of Google Assistant, the picture has changed completely.

Now Google Assistant is way more interactive and user friendly than Siri. Though both are equally good when asked normal day to day questions when we try to make a conversation then Google Assistant replies more humanly than Siri. It remembers your previous queries and answers specifically.

When we use them for call, text, or a reminder they are equally good. If there is anything that makes a difference than its the machine learning algorithm used by Google.

Photos and Streaming Music & Movies

Photo syncing is best performed through Apple’s iPhoto. For Android users, media help for the moment has to come via third-party software e.g Google Photos.

When it comes to streaming music and new music-on-demand services, Android suffers no disadvantage. All the popular iPhone music apps they’re all available on Android too. The difference is, most of them get widgets in Android. Play two or three songs at the same time from the same screen. You can’t do that on an iPhone.

Now, Apple’s newest OS release does give most of those apps the ability to be played from the iPhone’s multitasking menu, but only once they’re launched.

Security

Apple is about security, but most of all it’s about an ecosystem. If privacy is a priority for you. Some users will happily trust Google and not be too worried by advertising that is tied to a recent location or web search, but there’s no doubt that Google’s whole business model is based on knowing as much about you as possible.

Rooting/Jailbreaking

On paper, rooting an Android smartphone and jailbreaking an iPhone is the same thing. Rooting and jailbreaking differ from each other in what they are capable of doing and the process of doing it.

Rooting an Android device is more complex and time-consuming while jailbreaking an iPhone usually takes a few steps. However, while it is possible to root most Android devices out there, a jailbreak tool is rarely available for the latest iOS release. Many Android OEMs like OnePlus embrace the third-party developer community and make it easier to root their devices. Apple, on the other hand, is completely against jailbreaking.

Conclusion

With so many benefits of Android over iOS, it can be easily understood why Android has preferred more over the iOS device when it comes to recommending someone which phone to buy. I would recommend: OnePlus 8 Pro, Buy now.

OnePlus 8 Pro is the Best phone overall in the Market nowadays. Our Top-pick right now and Longest-lasting phone, with the best phone battery life. The best waterproof phones built to survive splashes.

Android provides much better technical support and also you can update the latest Android much more easily than on iOS phones.
