Google made a lot of smart moves with the phone, notably its phenomenal cameras and ultra-fast face unlock, but inexcusably bad battery life held it back from being an easy recommendation. As you might guess, this has left us eager to see how things can be improved for the Google Pixel 5.
Leaks about the devices followed soon thereafter, and we got our first look at the Google Pixel 5. Its specifications were revealed in a leak on the same day, and a couple of days later, live images of both the devices were shared on Gadgets 360. Now, another leaked image of the Pixel 5 has surfaced online, but this time under the “Pixel 5s” moniker.
Google Pixel 5 leaked specs reveal Snapdragon 765G, 90Hz display, wide-angle camera, and 8GB RAM
Google’s next smartphone will feature a 6-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. That display size is right in the middle of the Pixel 4’s 5.7″ and Pixel 4 XL’s 6.3″ display, but unlike those two phones, the Pixel 5 is expected to have an edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels on the top and bottom. The Pixel 5 alleged 90Hz refresh rate would be the same refresh rate as on the Pixel 4, and it’s unlikely that Google is packing in Samsung advanced variable refresh rate OLED display with an LTPO( Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) backplane. We’re not sure if the resolution will be FHD like the smaller non-XL models in the past or QHD like the larger XL models.
When is the Google Pixel 5 coming out?
As far as the Google Pixel 5 release date goes, it’s possible we could see the launch on October 8 or 15, 2020.
Google eventually removed this information, which leads us to believe that could be the date of the launch event.
To give you some context, here are the exact dates for all past Pixel events:
- Pixel — October 4, 2016
- Pixel 2 — October 4, 2017
- Pixel 3 — October 9, 2018
- Pixel 4 — October 15, 2019
Google Pixel 5 price and models
The latest evidence that Google Pixel 5 will cost less comes from a German tech blog, which places the price of Google’s upcoming phone at €629. That would be around the $699 price range we’ve been hearing about for the Pixel 5. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL started at $799 and $899.
- Pixel — $649
- Pixel 2 — $649
- Pixel 3 — $799
- Pixel 4 — $799
Google Pixel 5 battery
According to a Pixel 5 battery leak, Google will equip this year’s phone with a 4,000 mAh battery, which would be a big boost over the Pixel 4. This same leaker posted a photo of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G to Gadgets 360 and then deleted the picture. So if this person did see the phones in the wild the rumor seems trustworthy.
